Moringa – sounds like a dance!
Moringa oleifera seed oil is a lightweight, highly stable botanical oil pressed from the seeds of the moringa tree (Moringa oleifera), sometimes called the “miracle tree.” It is increasingly used in natural skincare, haircare and cosmetic formulations.
Key benefits in cosmetics
- Moisturising & emollient – helps soften and smooth dry skin without feeling excessively greasy.
- Rich in oleic acid – typically contains a high proportion of monounsaturated oleic acid, which gives it a silky skin feel.
- Antioxidant properties – naturally contains compounds such as tocopherols that help protect the oil from oxidation.
- Supports the skin barrier – its fatty-acid profile makes it useful in products designed for dry or compromised-feeling skin.
- Conditioning for hair – can add softness, shine and manageability to hair.
- Very oxidation-stable – one of its particularly interesting formulation characteristics, making it useful in products where a longer oil shelf life is desirable.
Why I like it
Moringa seed oil is often described as a premium, stable carrier oil. Compared with some more oxidation-sensitive plant oils, it has excellent stability, which makes it attractive for:
Face oils • cleansing balms • moisturisers • body oils • hair oils • solid balms • lip products • anhydrous skincare
It also has a relatively mild, pleasant odour,
INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) name
Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil
It is obtained from the seeds of Moringa oleifera. |As well as being notable for its oleic acid content, it contains with smaller amounts of other fatty acids including behenic, palmitic and stearic acids.
I use it in our latest addition to my skincare range: Silk Ceramide Cleansing Melt – Marigold Charms.
Happy beauty!
